Link and Place, Peter Jones
30 April 2009, Glasgow. The second STSG seminar of 2009 will be held at 15:30 in the Clydesdale Bank Theatre, School of Management, University of Glasgow.
Professor Peter Jones of University College London will talk about his recent research and book Link and Place. Over the past decade, there has been an increasing recognition that urban streets contribute in many ways to the economic and social functioning of cities, and do much more than simply providing the infrastructure for vehicle based transport systems. Streets represent around 80% of public space in cities, and most buildings and urban activities front onto streets. The presentation will address how to approach the planning of an entire urban street network, and how to design appropriately for competing street uses on the busier sections of street, where space is limited.
