Towards a Democratic Mandate for the Future of Scottish Transport
In November 2020 STSG held a round table to discuss what changes in transport policy needed fresh political commitments endorsed through the ballot box at the 2021 Scottish Parliament elections.
It is through manifesto commitments that new things can start to happen, backed by a democratic mandate. We don’t claim that the nine big changes we suggest are the only necessary elements of future transport policy. However without a democratic mandate for fairer stakes in future transport delivery with better approaches to governance of data, transport commissioning and sustainable business models, transport delivery will struggle in what look to be challenging years ahead.
We are grateful for so many people commenting on the first draft of the paper during December 2020, and we continue to welcome further inputs. Version 1 is published here and we continue to welcome further inputs through comments on this page or by e-mailing us

A launch today of a Scottish Government policy on data as STSG called for ………… but transport and logistics applications seem to be completely missing https://www.scotlandaistrategy.com/news/scotlands-ai-strategy-launched
Hopefully the promised framework will cover transport data and algorithms.
Great report from the ODI on how to implement the detail of our manifesto suggestion on data https://theodi.org/article/mobility-data-sharing-during-the-covid-19-pandemic-research-from-cuebiq-and-govlab/
