2021 AGM – 23rd November 2021 – 10 Things Scottish Transport Operators Must do to Recover from the COVID Pandemic
The STSG AGM will be held on 23rd November at 12noon by Zoom. Meeting details will be e-mailed to all those who have registered by contacting us at admin@stsg.org . The annual report and account will be at the website at least a week before the AGM.
The speaker at this year’s meeting will be Roger French with his talk starting at 12:30pm – “10 things needed to get 10% more passengers on Scottish public transport”.
As Scottish transport comes to terms with the post pandemic era there is a patronage gap of at least 10% to be able to get back to and exceed pre-pandemic patronage levels. Roger will explain his thoughts on how this can be achieved.
Roger was formerly Managing Director of the Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company and since his retirement has been travelling around the UK mainly by bus and train, but also the occasional tram, ferry and aeroplane, experiencing the best and worst and sometimes mediocre of public transport as a passenger. Roger’s 2021 travels have included DRT services in Aberdeenshire and bus to the Island of Vatersay amongst other Scottish transport delights. More recently he has been checking out Scottish transport in advance of COP26 including the new Lumo London to Edinburgh rail service, Citylink coaches and McGills electric buses in Glasgow.
Roger hopes that by writing up his travels operators can learn about how to do things better. Roger’s experience in the bus industry started with London Transport in 1970 and his talk will draw on the lessons learned over this 51 year period. Roger’s presentations are always hugely informative and thought provoking so this is a presentation not to be missed.
